The Lodge
A warm place to come back to.
The place
The lodge sits among the spruce a few minutes from the water, with rooms in the main building and private cabins for those who want a little more quiet. The spaces are comfortable rather than fancy — good beds, warm light, and a common room where the day's stories get told and retold over dinner.
Meals are part of the point here. Mornings start early and well-fed before the boats go out. Evenings end around the table, often with the day's catch, cooked simply and served without ceremony. It is the kind of hospitality that has gone out of style most places and never did here.
What guests tend to remember isn't any single amenity. It's the feel of the place — the smell of the spruce, the long northern light, the quiet after the boats are in. Most of next season's rooms are already spoken for by people who stayed last year, and the year before. We try to keep a few weeks open for new faces.
